Ingredients

  • Coarse salt (1 cup for each recipe)
  • Bowl
  • Oranges, lemons or tangerines (five of each)
  • Paring knife
  • Baking sheet
  • Food processor

Preparation

Step 1

1. Wash the fruit and remove the rinds. Cut the rinds
into strips approximately 1 inch wide and place the
rind strips on the baking sheet in a single layer.

2. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees and turn it off.

3. Place the baking sheet into the oven and leave it in
the oven to dry for approximately three hours (with
the oven off).

4. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and process
the citrus rinds in the food processor until they are a
fine powder.

5. Place 1 cup of coarse salt into the bowl and add 2
tbsp. of citrus rind powder to the salt. Stir the ingred-
ients well and pour into a container.

6. Seal the container and store it at room temperature.
Use the citrus flavored salt within six months.
