  • 1 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1

Heat oven to 350°F.

Place 1/2 cup brown sugar in small bowl cut in 3 tablespoons butter with pastry blender - until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in nuts Press onto bottom of greased 9 inch round cake pan. Arrange apple slices on to set aside.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl, set aside.

Combine 2/3 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup butter, vanilla add eggs in medium bowl. Beat at medium speed or a wire whip until creamy. Add flour mixture alternately with milk until well mixed with wire whip.

Spoon batter over apple layer spread evenly. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes invert onto serving place Serve warm or cool
