Ingredients

  • 5 pounds all-purpose flour
  • 2 T salt
  • 1 can (3 lb) Crisco (regular or butter flavored)
  • 3 Cups cold water

Step 1

Combine flour and salt in a roaster. Cut in shortening using knives. When mixture resembles cornmeal, add cold water all at once and mix lightly until water is incorporated.

Using food scale, weigh out 10 ounces and then make round disk. Put into freezer bags, squeezing out all the air. This will make 14 single crust pies. If you want double crust pies, you can weigh accordingly.

(We usually have at least 2 people when we make this.)

Store in the freezer. You can thaw in fridge overnight or on counter for an hour.
