Ingredients
- Glaze:
- 1/2 lb butter
- 2 1/2 cups sugar,dvd
- 4 eggs
- 1/3 cup grated lemon zest,or less
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp bkg powder
- 1/2 tsp soda
- 1 tsp sat
- 3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice,dvd
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups conf sugar
- 3 tblsp lemon juice
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350*
Grease 2 loaf pans
Cream the butter and 2 cups of the sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, and the lemon zest. Sift the dry ingredients. Combine the buttermilk, and 1/4 cup of the juice and vanilla. Alternately add the flour and the buttermilk mixture. Pour batter into pans and bake for 45-60 minutes.
Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup lemon juice and cook over low heat until sugar dissolves. Allow cakes to cool for 10 minutes. Them place on a rack. Spoon syrup over them allow them to cool completely.
Then glaze them.
