Ingredients
- 1 package dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk, warm
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons 1% low-fat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
1. Dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 5 minutes. Add milk, sugar, butter, vanilla, salt and egg. Batter will not be completely smooth.
2. Add 3 cups flour. Stir until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth and elastic, adding enough flour to keep it from sticking to hands. Place in sprayed bowl, spray top of dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
3. Mix raisins, sugar and cinnamon. Roll dough out into 15x10" rectangle. Brush with butter. Sprinkle with filling leaving 1/2 inch border. Roll up and pinch seam to seal. Wrap in plastic and chill 20 minutes.
4. Unwrap and slice into 20 slices. Place on sprayed pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 75 minutes.
5. Heat oven to 350. Bake 20 minutes, or until golden.
6. Mix sugar, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls.
a lot of work, but very good. Not a be-all-and-end-all recipe
