Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • pinch salt
  • 2 cubes butter
  • 1 egg & milk to make 1/3 cup
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies, Grape Nut Flakes or Corn Flakes

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, salt butter & milk mixture & roll 1/2 for bottom crust on large cookie sheet (jelly roll pan). Cover with cereal. Slice 4 apples over top. Sprinkle with 1 cup sugar-cinnamon mixture and pinch of salt. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust. Bake 375 for 40 minutes. Immediately drizzle icing on top.

Boiled Icing: 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup milk, 1/4 cup shortening. Boil 1 minute & add 1/2 tsp vanilla. Beat & drizzle over baked crust.
