Pie Crust II

Recipe yields 5 pie crusts.

This recipe is one that has been passed down 3 generations

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour, lightly spooned into cup
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 Tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup water

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add shortening and cut in until mixture is crumbly.

In a bowl, beat together the vinegar, egg and water. Pour liquid into flour, stirring with a fork until moistened and comes away from edge of bowl.

Divide dough into 5 portions. Pat into flat ovals, wrap in plastic or waxed paper and chill.

May be frozen and it never gets tough. Just thaw and use.
