Hot Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • Peel from 1 lemon
  • 1 small orange, thinly sliced
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bottle red wine

Preparation

Step 1

Combine lemon peel, orange, cinnamon sticks, cloves, brown sugar and water in a large saucepan. Place over low heat and cook, stirring, until it becomes a light syrup, 10-15 minutes. Add red wine and let steep over low heat. Do not boil. If desired, strain to remove solids. Serve in heat-proof mugs or cups.

Makes 4 servings.
