This chili might take 2 hours in the oven, but it is worth the wait! Baking first without a cover helps reduce the liquid, then cooking with the cover helps it not burn. Serve with shredded cheese and chopped onions.

Ingredients

  • 1 can yellow beans
  • 1 can green beans
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can diced tomato
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1 can lima beans
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to to 325 degrees.

Drain lima, green and yellow beans.

Brown meat in a large skillet. Add onion, celery, brown sugar, tomato soup, paste, diced tomato, ketchup, mustard and simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Stir well.

Place the entire meat and bean mixture in large baking dish with strips of bacon on top.

Bake uncoverd for 1 hour, cover with foil and bake for 1 more hour -- a total of 2 hours.
