Ingredients
- 1 lb tagliatelle or linguine
- 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 5 oz smoked ham, cut into 1/2" dice
- 1 cup cooked fresh or thawed frozen peas
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp fresh ground black pepper

Cook pasta in boiling salted water till al dente. Time the pasta so it is done the same time as the sauce.
Heat oil in medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally until onion is translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the butter and melt. Then, add the ham and peas and cook another 3 minutes until heated through. Reduce heat to very low to keep warm.
Drain pasta reserving 1 cup of cooking liquid. Return the pasta to the pot adding sauce and salt and pepper. Add enough of the cooking liquid to make a sauce. Toss and serve with a topping of parmesan cheese.
