Easy Pilau Rice

Mmm delicious yellow rice. Don't forget to pick out the cloves and cardamom pods as you eat! Serve with Low-Fat Chicken Curry (it won't be low fat any more if you serve it with this lovely buttery rice!)

Ingredients
- 1 ounce butter
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 4 cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
Preparation
Step 1
1 Melt the butter in a saucepan. 2 Stir in the rice until it is coated in the butter. 3 Add the spices and salt. 4 Add the boiling water. 5 Cover with a tight fitting lid, and simmer on the lowest heat for 15 minutes--do not stir in the meantime.
