Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour (sifted)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter,sugar, and egg yolk; add the rest of the ingredients; mix well. Roll in 1 inch balls and dip into slightly beaten egg white. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes
Butter cream Icing:
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 lb. confectioners sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix all ingredients together. Color green or red. Fill thumbprints with icing.
