Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk, well chilled
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1-2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract, to taste

Preparation

Step 1

In medium bowl, use a hand mixer or whisk to combine the milk and granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1-2 minutes on low speed. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla to taste. Turn machine on, pour mixture into freezer bowl through ingredient spout and let mix until thickened, about 25-30 minutes.

Variations:
Mint Chip: Omit the vanilla and replace with 1 - 1.5 tsp peppermint extract, to taste. Chop your favorite 4-ounce bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate bar into tiny uneven pieces. Add the chopped chocolate during the last 5 minutes.

Coconut Chip: Omit the vanilla and replace with 1 - 1.5 tsp coconut extract, to taste. Add 4-ounces of mini chocolate chips during the last 5 minutes. You could also add shredded coconut during the last 5 minutes as well.
