Ingredients
- Fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Thick sliced white bread
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp. dried thyme or 1/2 tsp. fresh thyme
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Pinch nutmeg
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Butter
Preparation
Step 1
Trim crusts from bread. Layer sliced mozzarella on bread and sandwich. In large shallow bowl, whisk egg; add milk, thyme, salt & nutmeg. Whisk until blended. Heat olive oil in skillet until smoking; add butter and cook until sizzling subsides. Dip both sides of sandwich in egg mixture and sauté until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side. Serve immediately.
