Chinese Five-Spice Substitute

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbs aniseed
  • 2 Tbs fennel seed
  • 2 Tbs ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbs whole cloves
  • 2 Tbs whole peppercorns

Preparation

Step 1

In a spice grinder or with a mortar and pestle, combine all the ingredients (in batches if necessary); grind until mixture becomes a powder.
Store in jar with tight-fitting lid
