Cheese Souffle

Ingredients

  • 4 slices white bread, broken
  • 1/2 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 eggs, separated and beaten
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. dry mustard
  • 1/8 t. red pepper
  • 1/2 t. minced onion
  • 2 1/2 c. milk

Preparation

Step 1

In greased two-quart casserole dish, alternate layer of bread and layer of cheese (4 layers in all).

Combine eggs, salt, mustard, pepper and onion with milk

Pour mixture over the bread and cheese layers.

Let stand in refrigerator at least 5 hours or overnight.

Bake in pan of hot water at 325 for one and a half hours.

Serve immediately after baking.
