Grandma Verdi's recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses (Domolco)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in1/2 cup boiling water.

Preparation

Step 1

Blend margarine and sugar, add eggs and mix well.
Add molasses.
Add all ingredients with hot water and soda. Mix well.
Chill thoroughly (1-2 hours).
Drop by spoonful.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes
Ice when cool
