Apple Pie Filling

  • 9 L sliced peeled apples
  • 750 ml sugar
  • 5 ml salt
  • 15 ml cinnamon
  • 25 ml lemon juice



Step 1

Combine ingredients in a large kettle.
Bring slowly to a boil and simmer until all sugar is dissolved
(about 5 min.) stirring constantly.
Pack into hot jars, leaving 5 cm headspace.
Apply lids and screw metal rings on firmly.
Process in boiling water bath 25 minutes for quart sealers or process in pressure canner at 5 lb pressure for 8 min.
Makes 6 quarts

Easy Apple Pie
15 ml cornstarch
1 qt. Canned pie filling
15 ml cornstarch
Sprinkle 1st. 15 ml cornstarch on bottom of pastry lined pie plate.
Add pie filling
Sprinkle with remaining cornstarch.
Cover with top crust, seal seams, make vents and
bake at 400F for 10 min. Reduce heat to 350F and bake 30-40 min.
