Garlic Cheese Grits

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 garlic gloves, minced
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup uncooked regular grits
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
  • salt & pepper
  • hot sauce

Preparation

Step 1

In small skillet, melt butter.
Add garlic and saute til garlic is barely soft, be careful not to burn. set aside
In heavy saucepan, heat water and cream but don't boil. Slowly add grits and salt, stirring constantly to avoid clumping.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stir often for 15-20 minutes til thick and creamy.
Add cheese and sauteed garlic and cook til cheese melts. Season with salt & pepper and hot sauce. Serve immediately.
