Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • To make cheddar biscuits:
  • 2 C. Flour
  • 3 T. Sugar
  • 1 t. Salt
  • 4 t. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 C. Shortening
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 T. Lemon Juice PLUS Milk to make 1 Cup
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (heaping), grated
  • Brush on Top
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • pinch salt

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour, sugar, salt & baking powder. Cut shortening into flour mixture. Add egg and milk mixture; mix just until blending. (add cheddar ingred. if desired) Roll out & cut into circles. Place on greased pan

BAKE 350° for 20-25 minutes
