Mrs. Reitz's Chocolate Pound Cake

Mother got this recipe from a Housekeeping lady at Great Valley Senior High School where she was the Principal's secretary. Mother was her first patron when Mrs. Reitz went into the Cake business and only shared the recipe when she retired several years later. Mrs. Reitz made my wedding cake.

Ingredients
- Add:
- 3/4 cup of margarine
- 3 cups of sugar
- 3 eggs
- Beat above well.
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 pint sour cream
- 3 squares melted chocolate
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- Alternate w/:
- 1-1/2 cup of ice water
- Let cake cool before removing.
- Icing:
- 1 lb. 10X sugar
- 1 cup spry or Crisco
- 1/3 cup milk
- dash of salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions are with ingredients. Bake 350 degrees, 30 minutes for 2 pans, 60 minutes in tube pan.
