Ingredients
- Frosting:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour
- 2 1/4 cups regular flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups XXX sugar
- 1/3 cup boiling water
- 1 square baking chocolate
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 2 cookie sheets. Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs; then add vanilla and lemon extracts. Combine dry ingredients and blend into the butter mixture. Drop by the tablespoonful onto greased sheets. Bake til edges begin to brown; 20-30 minutes. Cool completely.
Place XXX sugar in a bowl. Mix with boiling water one tablespoon at a time til smooth and spreadable. Transfer half the frosting to a double boiler and stir in the chocolate til melted. With a brush, coat half each cookie with white, and half each cookie with chocolate frosting.
