  • 5 slices maple bacon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 1/2-3 1/2 cups milk (depending on how thick you like it)
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Step 1

1 Brown the bacon in a large skillet, over medium-high heat, and then remove and crumble. 2 Add the butter and onions to the pan, and cook until onions are just browning. 3 Turn the heat to low and add the flour. Cook for about 3 minutes or until the roux smells nutty. 4 Whisk in the milk, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil over low heat, stirring often. 5 Add the crumbled bacon.
