Ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups AP flour
- 1 Tbsp superfine sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cold unsalted butter, chopped
- 1/3 cup ice water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
Place flour, sugar and baking powder in a food processor and pulse to combine. Add butter and process until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs. With the motor running, gradually add the water and vanilla, pulsing until the mixture comes together to form a smooth dough. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before using.
Rolling Out:
Roll out dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper to eliminate the need for extra flour, which can make pastry dry. Roll from the center outward until dough is an even thickness. Peel top sheet of parchment paper off the rolled dough and transfer to pie plate, laying it pastry side down. Peel off the other sheet of parchment and gently pat down the pastry. Trim the edges and re roll for the top crust or decorating the edges.
