Stuffed Green Peppers

Ingredients

  • 6 medium green peppers
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/3 c. chopped onion
  • 1 T. fat
  • 2 c. stewed tomatoes
  • 3/4 c. packaged precooked rice
  • 2 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 c. shredded sharp process American cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Cut off tops of green peppers; remove seeds and membrane. Precook green pepper cups in boiling salted water about 5 minutes; drain. Sprinkle inside with salt. Brown meat and onion in hot fat; add tomatoes, rice, Worcestershire, salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer til rice is almost tender, about 5 minutes. Add cheese. Stuff peppers; stand upright in baking dish. Bake uncovered in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 25 minutes or till hot. Sprinkle with more cheese. Serves 6.
