Ingredients

  • 5 cups of Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup of applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • a pinch of salt

Step 1

In your slow cooker combine the oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt and stir it up.
In a small bowl combine the 3/4 C applesauce, 2 T honey, 1 tsp. olive oil and a splash of vanilla. Pour this over the mixture in the slow cooker and mix it well making sure to coat the oats. It takes a little while to get it completely moistened.
Turn your slow cooker on low and cover with the top using a wooden spoon to keep the lid open a little. Allow it to cook for 5-7 hours, stirring every 30 minutes or so.
Take the cover off and allow the granola to cool completely.
At this point you can add in any optional mix-ins; raisins, cranberries, nuts, seeds...
