Costco Cronuts from BetterBaking.com

I love Costco and I love a quick fix. Cronuts are on trend but homemade ones take time and you have to be up for making your own classic puff pastry. Instead, try this genius idea: defrost a few Costco Kirkland brand frozen croissants, fry ‘em up, roll them in sugar (or fill with custard and smear with fondant) and you have a treat that is fast, easy and addictive and off the charts in ‘wow’ appeal. These are ridiculously easy and beyond addictive.

Ingredients

  • Kirkland or Costco Homemade Cronuts
  • Costco (or other) frozen croissants, as many as you want to make
  • Canola oil
  • Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Place a few frozen croissants on a baking sheet, cover lightly with a plastic bag and let defrost and rise 3 hours (a bit more is fine, a bit less is also ok).

Heat up a 6 quart pot or wok with canola oil – about two-thirds full with the oil. The oil should be at frying temperature, about 350 F.

Lower a couple of croissants in the oil. Allow them to puff and brown on one side, turn over and brown the other side. This should take a seconds per side (maybe 20 per side).

Toss in a bowl of sugar – serve!
