Bacon Onion Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 T. baking powder
  • 1 T sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 Cup butter
  • 1 Cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

1. Prehead oven to 450 degrees.. In a skillet, cook bacon and onion until bacon is crisp and onion tender. Drain and discard fat
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mix resembles coarse crumbs. make a well in the center of flour misture. Add milk and bacon mixture all at once to flour mixture. Using a fork, stir just until mixture is moistened.
3. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. knead dough by folding and gentlly pressing dought for four to six strokes, or just until dought olds together. Pat or lightly roll dough until 3/4 inch thick Cut dough iwth a floured 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter, reroll dough scraps as necessary and dip cutter into flour between cuts
4. Place dough circles 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until golden. Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm. Makes 12.
