Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp panko bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp spicy brown mustard
  • 2 Tbsp BBQ sauce, plus more for topping
  • 1 Tbsp plus 1 tsp Cajun or Creole seasoning
  • 4 slices smoked cheddar or Gouda cheese
  • French fried onions and coleslaw, for topping

Step 1

1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, green onions, mustard, 2 Tbsp of BBQ sauce and 1 Tbsp of the Cajun seasoning. Shape into 4 patties.
2. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup more of the BBQ sauce with 1 tsp of the Cajun seasoning; set aside.
3. Grill burgers until internal temperature reaches 160F, about 5 minutes per side. Brush with some of the Cajun seasoned BBQ sauce mixture the last couple minutes of cooking time.
4. Serve on butter toasted burger buns topped with more of the Cajun seasoned BBQ sauce mixture, French fried onions and coleslaw, if desired.
