Ingredients
- 2 C cake flour
- 2 C sugar
- 1/2 t baking powder
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 t salt
- 1/2 C butter
- 1 C water
- 1 t vanilla
- 4 oz. chocolate, unsweetened, melted
- 2/3 C buttermilk
- 2 eggs
Preparation
Step 1
1. Cream butter, add sugar and combine thoroughly. Combine dry ingredients. Add chocolate, eggs and buttermilk to butter and mix well.
2. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with combined water and vanilla. Beat well. Pour into greased pans.
3. Bake 350 deg.: 2 - 8in. layers: 35-40 mins.
2 - 9in. layers: 30-35 mins. or 9x13: 50 mins.
