Candied Pecans

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pecan halves
  • 2 egg whites
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Coat two 9x13 pans with nonstick cooking spray. Divide pecans and put half in each. Toast them at 325 for 15 minutes. Remove from pans and set aside.

Beat the egg whites with the dash of salt until stiff but not dry. Fold in the sugar and then the pecans. Pour half of the melted butter in each pan. Divide the nut mixture and put half in each pan, also. Fold the mixture into the melted butter.

Bake at 325, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes. Remove from oven and spread on wax paper. Let cool slightly, and then separate. Cool completely.
