Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation
Step 1
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and spices. In a separate large bowl, blend together shortening, sugar and molasses. Beat egg into shortening mixture; stir in applesauce. Add flour mixture to shortening mixture; mix well. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
