Ingredients

  • The ingredients for the cabbage rolls are:

  • 1

    large head of cabbage

  • ground beef

  • ½

    of a vidalia onion

  • 1

    tsp. of worchestershire sauce

  • ½

    tsp. of salt

  • ¼

    tsp. of crushed black pepper

  • ½

    tsp. of crushed red pepper

  • 2

    tbsp. of olive oil

  • 28

    oz of your favorite tomato sauce

  • 2

    cups of already cooked brown rice.

Directions

We're gonna start making the cabbage rolls by first heating a warm pan adding 2 tbsp. of olive oil. Once the oil is hot you're going to add the ground beef and the finely diced onion. Add the salt and both kinds of pepper, and then one tsp. of worchestershire sauce, chopping as the meat browns. Once the meat is thoroughly cooked you're going to remove the beef from the hot pan and place directly over the plate lined with paper towels to drain the oil. Now wipe the warm pan clean with a paper towel and add your tomato sauce. Bring up to a boil and then reduce to simmer. While the sauce is coming up to boil start to peel the head of cabbage. Freeze the head of cabbage the night before or a few hours before and then soak it right after that in a bowl of water. It's going to make the leaves much easier to remove. Once you start removing the leaves you're going to blot them dry with a paper towel, add the brown rice and beef mixture to each one. And fold and roll from both sides first and rolling forward away from you. You're going to place with seamside down into the already simmering tomato sauce. Once the cabbage rolls have braised for 20 minutes you want to remove from pan, serve hot and put some sauce over the top.
