Ingredients

  • Bottom:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups graham crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 5 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • Middle:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp custard powder
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • Top:
  • 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 tbsp butter

Preparation

Step 1

Bottom Layer: In top of a double boiler, melt 1/2 cup butter, sugar and cocoa. Add beaten egg and stir to cook and thicken. Remove from heat. Add crumbs and nuts. Press firmly into ungreased 9x9 pan.

Middle Layer: Cream together 1/4 cup butter, milk, custard powder and icing sugar. Beat until light. Spread over bottom layer.

Top Layer: Melt chocolate and 1 tbsp butter over low heat; cool. When still runny, spread over middle layer. Chill.
