Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. scalded milk cooled down (or make with warm water and nonfat dry milk)
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. flour
Preparation
Step 1
In a large mixer bowl dissolve 2 pkg. yeast and 1/4 cup warm water. Then add remaining ingredients. Beat two minutes medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in remaining flour (2 and 1/2 c) until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double. Turn dough out on a well floured surface. Roll around to coat with flour. Roll out until 1/2 thick. Cut with a doughnut cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter. Cover and let rise until double, 20 minutes. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden, immediately brush with melted butter and shake in cinnamon sugar.
