Spicy Smoked Broccoli and Tofu over Brown Rice

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • 2 tbls. brown rice vinegar
  • 3 tbls. tamari
  • 1 tbls. agave nectar
  • 2 tbls. sherry
  • 1 tsp. dried mustard
  • dried red pepper flakes to taste
  • 1 tbls. cornstarch or arrowroot
  • 2 tbls. fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlc, crushed and minced
  • 1/4 c. scallions (white part only), finely minced
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 lb. broccoli, tough outer stalks trimmed and pared, blanched
  • 1 14 oz. container extra-firm tofu, pressed into 1/2 inch thick slices

Step 1

In a saucepan, combine the sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until it thickens - about 7 minutes.

Brush the mixture onto the broccoli and tofu and grill until the tofu is warmed through and the broccoli is tender. Drizzle the broccoli and tofu with the remaining sauce and serve over brown rice.
