Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1 Tbs. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. freshly shredded lemon peel
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. snipped fresh thyme
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • honey
  • edible flowers or fresh sprigs of thyme

Preparation

Step 1

in large bowl mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, lemon, salt, and 1/2 tsp. thyme
cut in butter
set aside
in med bowl combine eggs. 3/4 cup whipping cream, and 1/3 cup honey
add eggs mix into well in center of flour mix
stir till moistened (will be very sticky)
turn onto well floured surface
knead by folding and pressing 6-8 strokes until nearly smooth
pat into 8 in. circle
cut into 12 wedges, separate
brush with additional whipping cream
bake at 400 for 12-15 min. until golden
drizzle with honey and add flower
