Ingredients
- 3/4 C butter
- 1 C sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 t vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 C flour
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/2 t salt

- 2 C powdered sugar
- 1/2 t almond extract
- 3 T milk
Preparation
Step 1
1.Blend together butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla.
2.In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to butter mixture and blend till incorporated.
Separate into two large balls of dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour. (Dough can also be frozen at this point. Wrap in Aluminum Foil also to keep dough fresh.)
3.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a floured surface, roll out dough till it is an even 1/4" thick. Cut out with cookie cutters and place on a parchment paper covered jelly roll pan.) Keep rolling dough until it is all used. (To save time, simply take dough and roll into 1 inch balls and place on a parchment paper covered jelly roll pan. Press down to flatten.)
4.If you are frosting cookies, bake now for 8 - 10 minutes or until they are slightly golden. (To save time, brush cookies with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 T of water) and sprinkle with sugar sprinkles before baking!)
Icing
1.Sift powdered sugar into a bowl. Add almond extract and milk. Mix together well. (Add more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it is a drizzling consistency.)
2.Mix with desired food coloring.
3.Frost cooled cookies and decorate. Allow to dry.
