Gilroy Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese (about 3 oz.)
  • 6 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 3 lg. garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. (generous) dried oregano, crumbled
  • 1 1-lb. loaf French bread, halved lengthwise

Preparation

Step 1

Thoroughly combine first 6 ingredients in medium bowl. (Can be made 2 days ahead. refrigerate. Bring to room temp. before continuing.)

Preheat oven to 375. spread garlic butter on cut sides of bread and wrap each half in foil. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Refrigerate.) Place bread on baking sheet, cut side up. Bake 20 minutes and remove foil.

Preheat broiler. Broil cut side up until golden brown, about 2 minutes.
