Ingredients
- 6 oz + 1t unsalted butter
- 3/4 t freshly ground black pepper
- 3/4 t ground cinnamon
- 1/4 t ground cloves
- 1 1/2 t vanilla extract
- 1 c sugar
- 1 lg egg
- 1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
- 2 t baking powder
- 1/4 t salt
- 3/4 c cocoa powder
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375*. Coat 2 baking sheets with teaspoon of butter.
Blend 6 oz butter, the spices and vanilla together in lg bowl. Gradually add sugar, then egg; beat until light and creamy. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt & coca. Stir into the creamed mixture until a stiff dough is formed. With floured hands, forrm the dough into 1 inch balls. Place balls 1 1/2 " apart on buttered baking sheets. Gently flatten each ball to 1/4" thickness.
Bake for 12 min. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
