I made these for breast cancer awareness day, and they turned out great. This is what I did...
2 sticks of softened butter
1 pouch betty crocker sugar cookie mix
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup flour
2 egg whites
2 tsp vanilla extract
pink food coloring jell
1 bag of semi sweet chocolate chips

Be sure to mix the wet ingredients seperately from the dry ingredients then mix them all together.

Now tried both versions of the recipe - and both failed. Shortbread version was dry and crumbly. This modified version - the cookies ran on the sheet like pancakes. I wont try either version again.

My MOTHER is soooooooooo funny!!! I wish I could have video tapped her.. While I was making these, my mom said.... "Your suppose to mix the butter and eggs together FIRST and then mix them in with the other stuff". My mom said, "They just don't know what they're doing". *LOL* She is right though, it is alot easier too! You ARE suppose to mix the wet ingredients separate from the dry ingredients! And THEN mix them both together! =)

Hi! I have made these cookies several times, but I don't color them and I use the yolk of the egg too (as well as using a few more chocolate chips). They are a very sweet cookie, but most people seem to like them. I think the folks saying they lack flavor
might try the not coloring and using the yolks of the eggs. It may be what makes them more flavorful for me. I must say they were a hit colored as well, even though I couldn't convince everyone that they would just taste like a normal cookie at first! Thanks
for such a simple recipe! My husband and his friends love them!

I don't recommend white chocolate chips. They turn brown and are no longer pretty. Plus too sweet.
