Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour and shortening with pastry blender.
Add milk and mix with fork.
Lightly knead dough on floured surface (use self-rising flour).
Cut out nine biscuits with donut cutter, mason jar ring, etc.
Place the biscuits into a greased 8x8 pyrex pan (if they are touching each other, that's great!).
Bake at 450° for 20 minutes.

*If you do not have the room to or do not want to knead the dough on a floured surface, you can "drop" the dough into a pyrex pan. Just use a tablespoon to scoop a portion of the dough up and place the ball into the pan. These are called drop biscuits. They have the same great taste, but not the uniform look.
