Breakfast Rich Coffee Cake Dough

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C milk
  • 1/2 C warm water (110 deg)
  • 2 dry active yeast pkg.
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 1 t salt
  • 2/3 C soft butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 5 - 5 1/2 C flour

Preparation

Step 1

1. Scald milk. Cool to lukewarm.

2. Measure water into large bowl. Add yeast and stir to dissolve.

3. Add milk, sugar, salt, butter and eggs. Blend well. Add 3 C flour. Beat well. Add enough remaining flour to form dough.

4. Turn dough out on floured surface, knead 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover with towel, let rise until doubled, about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

5. Turn dough out again, knead down and cut in half. Let rest 5 minutes.

6. Use as base for many breakfast dough recipes, like Sticky Buns, Crunchy Crumb Cake.
