Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 3/4 c. butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 t. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 c. milk chocolate chips
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. In a separate large bowl, stir butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Transfer dough to a lightly greased cast-iron skillet; gently flatten dough. Transfer skillet to oven. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes, until golden on top and edges. Do not overbake. Cool cookie in skillet on a wire rack for 15 to 20 minutes; cut into 8 wedges. Serve warm; top each wedge with a scoop of ice cream, if desired. Makes 8 servings.
