Brood Slaai

Ingredients

  • 6 Slices of white bread, cubed and fried in oil until brown
  • 250 ml cheese cut into cubes
  • 125 ml small gherkins, sliced
  • SAUCE
  • 3 eggs
  • 160 sugar
  • 15 ml mustard powder
  • 25 ml water
  • 50 ml vinegar
  • 125 ml mayonnaise
  • 50 ml cream

Preparation

Step 1

1. Beat eggs till fluffy, add sugar a little at a time, until dissolved.

2. Mix mustard powder with water, add vinegar and cook very slowly, stirring all the time until as thick as custard.

3. Allow to cool, then add mayonnaise and cream.

4. Pour over bread, cheese and gherkins just before serving.
