Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, cut into 1/2-inch or smaller chunks
  • 8 ounces (about 1 1/2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 ° F. Line two baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper. Sift the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder together into a medium bowl. Set aside. Beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Add the flour mixture and beat until combined. Using a spatula, fold in the chocolate chunks and chips. Form 2-ounce balls, and flatten halfway. Bake for 14 to 15 minutes, rotating the baking sheets halfway through the baking time, just until slightly underdone and light golden brown on the outside edges. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets.
