Blackberry Cobbler

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups blackberries

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt the butter in a square 9-inch baking dish in the oven.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, one cup sugar, baking powder and nutmeg. Combine the half-and-half and vanilla in a measuring cup, and then add to the flour mixture blending until crumbly. Press the dough into the baking dish on top of the butter, some butter will spill over on the dough.

In a medium saucepan, stir together the berries with the remaining one cup of sugar. Warm over low heat and pour over the dough.

Bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
