  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 t. vanilla
  • 1/8 t. salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 T. margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. walnuts, finely chopped



Step 1

In a medium bowl combine flour, cream cheese and margarine. Knead ingredients with hands until blended. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate while preparing filling. In small bowl with mixer at high speed, beat sugar, cocoa, vanilla, salt, egg yolk and margarine until well blended. With spoon, stir in nuts, set filling aside. Preheat oven to 350º. On lightly floured surface roll dough into 12 x 12” squares, cut into 36 2” squares. Place a rounded teaspoonful of filling in center of each square. Bring 2 diagonal corners of each square to center of filing, twist to seal. Place on ungreased cookie sheets 1” apart. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Store tightly covered.
