Ingredients

  • Bourbon Sauce:

  • 3

    tablespoons butter

  • 2

    large shallots, minced

  • 1/3

    cup bourbon

  • 1/2

    cup ketchup

  • 1/2

    cup distilled white vinegar

  • 1/3

    cup pure maple syrup

  • 1/3

    cup molasses

  • 1

    tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2

    teaspoon salt

  • 1/2

    teaspoon freshly ground pepper

  • Dry Rub:

  • 2

    tablespoons paprika

  • 1

    tablespoon sugar

  • 1-1/2

    teaspoons chili powder

  • 1

    teaspoon salt

  • 1/2

    teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Directions

Bourbon Sauce: 1. Melt butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. 2. Add shallots and cook 4 minutes, until they become brown. 3. Add remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. 4. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. Dry Rub: 5. Combine all ingredients in a cup. 6. Coat beef and rub. 7. Remove 2/3 cup bourbon sauce for basting. 8. Cover and grill beef for 30 minutes, turning 2 to 3 times. 9. Baste with sauce. 10. Cover and grill 30 to 35 minutes more, turning occasionally. 11. Transfer to cutting board and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes. 12. Reheat remaining bourbon sauce and serve with beef.
