- 2 tablespoon(s) granulated sugar
- 8 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 6 tablespoon(s) lard or shortening, chilled
- 1/2 cup(s) ice water

Directions
Combine flour, salt, and sugar on a work surface or in a large bowl. Use a pastry blender or your fingers to work in butter and lard until the mixture forms coarse crumbs. Using a fork, stir in the water until the mixture mostly pulls together. Use hands to pat dough into a disc, wrap with plastic and refrigerate at least 1 hour before rolling.
Gently roll out dough and press into a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees F, removing from oven before the crust turns golden brown. Allow to cool before adding pie filling.
